Global wind electricity generation reached a record 2,715 TWh in 2025, rising 205 TWh (+8. 2%) from 2024, according to Ember's Global Electricity Review 2026. This marks the second-largest increase amongst all power sources, behind solar. The record of 22,711 megawatts (MW) set at 7. 30pm on November 11 beats the previous high for wind power generation of 22,253 MW set on December 18. China's wind power generation by industrial enterprises above the designated size reached a new high of more than one trillion kilowatt-hours in 2025, according to China Electricity Council on Sunday. The figure surpassed the previous 22,523MW record set on 18 December 2024.
